Birthdays Abound!

My little niece turns 5 tomorrow. Like Missy she’s not a girly girl. She loves dinosaurs, science experiments and playing in the creek behind her house.

What to give her? A superhero outfit of course (and  story about a not so girly princess).

Wild bold colours, satin and appliqué, 3 of my favourite things (insert sarcasm font here). Cape pattern found here, it has heaps of appliqué patterns including an alphabet. You could easily make it up yourself, but for $6 I saved my brain. It’s fully reversible with a star on one side and a super J on the other. The skirt is a Lazy Days skirt made in the same revolting satin as the cape.

We’re slowly getting through the birthday parties. This weekend there are two parties so two pairs of pjs teamed with a RTW t shirt and a Billie B Brown story. The fabric is actually a pink which was quite hard to photograph.

I am determined to not give any toys this year. Let’s see how long that lasts….

Hahaha – I knew you’d haved loved sewing the satin! And just your colours too 😉
You do make such lovely and thoughtful gifts though

Fabulous gifts, Peta! Great idea to try and skip giving toys. I know my kids would love receiving dress up clothes/books/pjs and as a parent I definitely prefer those to toys!

Ditto on the no toys, fab idea.
    Your gifts are so lovely

Love your presents and that you are not giving toys. Ella is a huge Billie B Brown fan, but my only gripe is that she can read them in about 10 mins flat.
