With a teeny bit of hesitation my family and I boarded a plane for Christchurch for a 2 and a half week holiday in a campervan. Yes, you read that word correctly, campervan. Is it one word or two? I don’t know. But it’s a great word (or two). I was a bit worried the 5 of us in such a confined space might stretch the friendship a bit but it was awesomely good.
The van (quickly nicknamed Vanessa,) was enormous with everything AND the kitchen sink. Very quickly(about the time it was explained how to empty it) it was decided that the toilet was out of bounds. All the camp grounds we stayed at were fantastic, so well equipped, clean and with loads of space for the children to run after driving in the van.
NZ is amazing. We have traveled a fair bit in our time but never to NZ which seems ridiculous seeing as it’s only 3 hours away and they (almost) speak the same language. Every corner you turn is another spectacular view. The water really is that blue, no doctoring of the photos.
It was fabulous to be all together for all that time without any everyday life distractions. We did just about everything on offer, luging, gondola riding, jet boating, helicopter riding, boat cruising, hungi eating, Hobbit shire visiting (of course), hot springs hopping and the list goes on and on and on.
